Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data tirekick collects, why, and who it's shared with. tirekick is operated by the team behind Clamp Analytics. You can browse the directory and run checks without an account; some of what's below only applies once you sign in.
What we collect
- Account details. If you sign up with email, your email address and a hashed password. If you sign in with GitHub, your GitHub username, basic profile, and the email GitHub shares with us.
- Session data. A cookie that keeps you signed in, and standard technical data (like IP address and user agent) needed to serve requests and keep the Service secure.
- Listings you manage.Servers you submit, the records that prove you own a listing you've claimed, and any listing details you edit.
- Checks you run. When you check a server or re-grade a listing you own, we store the resulting report and grade so the directory can display it.
- Usage analytics.Aggregate, privacy-friendly analytics collected with our own product, Clamp Analytics. We don't use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Credentials for grading auth-gated servers
Some servers require you to authorize before they'll list their tools. When you grade a server you own through that flow, the resulting access token is used only to make the single connection that reads the tool list, and then it is discarded. We do not store it. We keep the grade and report that connection produced, not the credential that produced them.
How we use it
- To run the directory: test servers, publish grades, and show listings.
- To sign you in and keep your account and ownership records straight.
- To send transactional email you've asked for, such as password resets.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, and understand how it's used in aggregate.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run tirekick:
- Cloudflare— content delivery and protection for the site.
- GitHub— only if you choose to sign in with GitHub.
- Resend — delivery of transactional email (from
[email protected]). - Clamp Analytics— our own first-party analytics.
We may also disclose data where required by law.
Retention
We keep account data for as long as you have an account, and check reports for as long as the listing is in the directory. Grading credentials are never retained (see above). When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data except where we're required to keep it.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. Email [email protected] and we'll take care of it. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including hashed passwords and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the surface small: for example, we don't store the credentials you use to grade a private server.
Children
tirekick is a developer tool and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
We'll update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
